2020-2021 School Year
"A Makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials while combining Art related principles and ideas".
Ridgewood Avenue Art Club Description
Ridgewood Avenue Art Club will consist of student’s grades 4-6 looking to continue their passion for the Arts outside of their everyday curriculum. It will be an after school activity on Thursdays between the hours of 1:30-2:30 beginning at the end of October and run until June held in the Makerspace. Once we move into our next opening phase the times will change. Please look out for updates on my website.
Two major projects can be completed with students if the available times and dates are permitted. One would be a paper mache sculpture made up of collected recyclable materials which students will need to collect and bring in. The sculpture will take almost 10 sessions to be brainstormed, created, painted and later displayed at the GRAPA Art show in May. The other project will be a painting on Canvas which the students will need to supply themselves. I supply the paint, brushes and paper mache. Students will need to bring and use their own art materials such as scissors, tape, newspaper, recyclables and canvas.
For now I am only opening an Art Club to 4--6 graders. Due to social distancing procedures only 15 students will be permitted in my classroom at a time. I will be running two sessions per month. The club members will be split by grade and come during their Groups time. Once I know how many students would like to participate I can open enrollment to 3rd graders. This will be a first come first serve sign up which will be located on Google Drive.
Students will also complete other various projects throughout the year depending on time.
